Diagram of the new shunting frame provided by British Railways to control the crossing gates.

Diagram of the new shunting frame provided by British Railways to control the crossing gates. The frame was a ten lever LMS type and it was required to 'lock' or 'unlock' the four pedestrian gates situated at the four corners of the crossing (see 'lnwrth1286' and 'lnwrth713') for a view of the gates. The diagram is marked as 'inverted' but I think this is an error by Preston Hendry and Powell Hendry. I assume they think the siding shown on the left was in fact the single siding found in the goods yard. I believe its the siding installed by British Railways positioned approximately half a mile towards Berkswell used to reverse locomotives proceeding to the oil depot on Torrington Avenue and accessed from the up line.
