Ex-LNWR 0-6-0 No 8556 is seen passing through Warwick station whilst at the head of a short pick up working of Private Owner wagons in 1937. When this class first appeared locomotives were given the nickname Cauliflower because when the LNWR crest was first applied to its centre splasher from a distance it was said to look like a cauliflower. Built in November 1900 at Crewe No 8556 was later placed into the LMS reserve list by the addition of the 20000 to its number giving it the new running number 28556. This was to make way for Stanier's new 8F which were placed in the 8000 series. As No 28556 it was withdrawn from Bushbury shed in October 1948 never receiving its allocated BR running number of 58414. to be scrapped at Crewe works.
