Ex-LMS 5XP Jubilee class No 45647 'Sturdee' has just passed under Dudley Road bridge on a down express service as it enters Winson Green station on 9th July 1956. The station had been opened on 1st July 1852 and, when this photograph was taken, had a little over a year left in service before it was closed on 16th September 1957. Built by Crewe works in January 1935, No 45647 was to remain in service until April 1967 when it was withdrawn from 55A Holbesck shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge.
