Looking towards Evesham along Alcester's down platform on the left and two wagons stabled in the twelve vehicle siding beyond the barrow crossing. Careful examination of the photograph shows that just in front of the bridge a signal post is evident with two arms, each pointing in opposite directions to each other. This was because one arm was the down advanced starter whilst the other was the up inner home signal. Bob Essery writes 'The Midland Railway often used this arrangement when it improved sighting for engine crews and it was commonplace for many years after nationalisation.'
