A view of the first junction on the Lifford branch after the Bournville signal box, taken in 1956. Overgrown with wild flowers, the siding ran parallel to the main line. See the background of 'mrb676' for a view of wagons on this siding on 6th June 1956. The signal on the left, controlling the junction with the main line, is a Midland Railway lower quadrant design. The distinctive finial on top is to protect the wooden post. See 'mrb1501' for a photo of this signal from the other side, with Bournville shed in the background.
