Bournville Shed: mrb1542

An undated view of stored engines in the yard of Bournville shed, taken by D Skevington, probably in the late fifties

An undated view of redundant engines stored on sidings at Bournville, taken from the ramp leading to the coaling stage in the late fifties by D Skevington. The greenery of Cotteridge Park on the right contrasts with the scene of dereliction. Coal stacks used to fill the empty ground between the tracks in busier times. Compare with 'mrb485', where the 3F 0-6-0 on the ramp of the coaling stage was standing where this photo was taken from. The stored engines are all 0-6-0s except for one 2P 4-4-0. There seem to be five 4Fs, three 3Fs and one 2F. It's doubtful if any of them were ever steamed again.
