Close up showing part of the covered stairs onto the down platform and on the right open steps to the sidings

Close up of image 'mrcb1031' showing part of the covered stairs onto the down platform and on the right, open steps to the sidings. Behind the down platform was the through down goods line originating at Duddeston Junction and behind this line, two long refuge sidings. On the 1916 map seen in image 'mrcb1020' the open steps are shown as being at 90° to the footbridge - as is the case with the two covered stairs to the platforms - and being of a similar design to them too. The map indicates too that another island platform existed between the up goods line that ran behind the platform and the two sidings. In all probability the open steps are likely to be a temporary structure used only for the period the British Industries Fair was open each year.
