The offices erected on the triangular land surrounded by Suffolk Street, Holliday Street and Allport Street can be seen on the right in the distance. The concept of transport hubs with centralised distribution points is therefore not a new or modern phenomena it was at the heart of the railway transport system. The covered wagons (note the rigidity of the covering over the hoops) were employed for the perishable traffic whilst the open wagons were employed on traffic that either utilised their own containers such as barrels or were non-perishable.
