Close up showing two cast-iron mechanical vending machines and a luggage weighing machine

Close up of image 'mrch1425' showing two cast-iron mechanical vending machines and a luggage weighing machine. See image 'mrch1425d' for a close up of the three items. As a teenager in the 1950s, the writer recalls seeing old and redundant vending machines such as these in Wales which dispensed a number of items such as chocolate bars and cigarettes, the latter being a pack of five cigarettes. The weighing machine, seen previously in image 'mrch359e', has two vertical shaped bars on either side of the plate to stablise the item(s) being weighed which could be either luggage or parcels. In then railway terms, a parcel could be a variety of different items being sent by passenger train. Above the weighing machine and slightly to the left of the station clock, is an oil lamp, positioned on a bracket away from the wall and at an angle in order to illuminate the clock face.
