Ex-LMS 4F 0-6-0 No 44434 heads a Class K stopping freight service on the down Camp Hill line on Sunday 30th November 1952. The locomotive is crossing the bridge that carried the railway over Duddeston Mill Road which replaced sometime in the 19th century the level crossing that was erected when the railway was first built. The photographer is standing close to the junction with Saltley Shed (see image 'mrdr996a') which is out of sight and to the immediate right of the photographer. Built as LMS No 4434 by Derby works in November 1927 No 44434 remained in service until September 1963 when it was withdrawn from 17B Burton-on-Trent shed, the shed it was allocated at the time of this photograph.
