Kings Norton Locomotives: mrkn1999

Ex-Midland Railway 0-4-0T '0F' No 41535 is seen being towed through Kings Norton station in the early 1960s by an unidentified ex-LMS 4-6-0 5MT locomotive. Built to a Deeley design as MR No 1535 by Derby works February 1922, No 41535 retained its MR number throughout LMS ownership and only received its 4 prefix in July 1948 when British Railways renumbered the locomotive which it retained until October 1964 when it was withdrawn from 87A Court Sart shed in Neath. For a period of time, May 1957 to September 1963, the locomotive was allocated to 22B Barnwood shed in Gloucester and this might be an occasion when the locomotive was being towed to Derby for work to be undertaken.
