Whilst office space was provided inside, goods such as those stored outside would also need to be supervised and checked. The lean-to office has been provided with ample glazing on three sides for both daylight and for security. Careful observation of the entrance on the right shows steps leading up to the raised platform which had been constructed in order to facilitate the easier loading and unloading of goods to and from road vehicles. Ventilation of the building was important particularly with grain storage and was provided on the first and second floor by the small vent windows as seen above.
