Lawley Street's new goods shed viewed from the south-west with the former L & B lines in the foreground. This was the other side of the shed where road transport could access the depot and goods shed from the section of Lawley Street which lay between the former Grand Junction lines to Aston and the London & Birmingham lines to Coventry. The new shed was designed to handle 11 million packages of miscellaneous traffic in any one year - the diversity being from a pin to piano. The erection of new offices to replace those sited at the junction of Lawley Street and Viaduct Street was also required following their destruction during the war.
