View of Stockingford Sidings Signal Box which was sited on the down line opposite Stockingford Branch

View of Stockingford Sidings Signal Box which was sited on the down line opposite Stockingford Branch. According to Pete Lee in his article in British Railways Journal No 9 Autumn 1985 the booking lad who is posing for this photograph was a Mr Barnsby who used his own Thornton-Pickard camera plate camera. It is assumed that this view was taken prior to the erection of the signal box sited adjacent to the shed. This is because the Signalling Diagram seen in image 'mrs1086' shows no signal box opposite the station and the ground frame in Stockingford goods yard is controlled by the signal box seen above. However in the 1924 series of maps shown in Chris Banks' book 'The Birmingham to Leicester Line' the above signal box is no longer evident.
