British Railways Type 4 D1678 with dual green livery and yellow end panels stands outside Saltley's No 3 roundhouse. In the background on the left is withdrawn British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92164 which can also be seen on another occasion here. Built at Crewe works to Lot 400, D1678 entered traffic on 24th April 1965 being allocated to 86A Cardiff Canton MPD. It was initially allocated the TOPs number 47092 but never carried this number due to it being upgraded and subsequently being allocated in May 1974 the sub-class number 47534. D1678 was withdrawn from HQ in May 1994 and disposed of in June 1996 by MRJ Phillips at Crewe works.
