Close up of image 'mrsalt438' showing the four former Midland Railway locomotives on the right together with the electrically powered turntable controls. The second locomotive from the left was No 43680, another 1873 class locomotive, which was built by Neilson Reid & Company in 1901 and it too served out its final days at Saltley shed being withdrawn in August 1962 and scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge in May 1963. Finally, the remaining class 1873 locomotive, No 43620, was also built by Neilson Reid & Company although in 1899 and remained in service for seventy-five years until it was withdrawn from Derby shed in February 1964 to be scrapped by Derby works in March 1964.
