LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

Saltley Shed: mrsalt655

View of Saltley's No 3 shed in 1959 following the extensive rebuilding of all three roundhouses with new walls and roof. The corner of Saltley's No 3 shed was severely damaged during the Second World War as seen image 'mrsalt113' which resulted in the entire wall being replaced from the corner to the access road to No 3 shed. The remaining wall, from the access road to the right-hand corner was retained but was extended upwards and with modifications to the windows. Whereas the original windows were arched at the top the replacement windows had a lintel placed at the bottom of the arch with the area above filled in. The roof was completely rebuilt as can be seen above when compared to image 'mrsalt110b'.
