Ex-MR 0-6-4T 'Flatiron' No 2035 is seen stabled on the road alongside Saltley sheds No 1 and No 3 roundhouses still wearing Saltley's No 3 MR shed plate on 24th August 1935. Saltley shed was re-coded by the LMS in 1935 and as the locomotive had only six months left before it was withdrawn its unlikely it ever carried Saltley's new '21A' shed plate. The nickname 'Flatiron' was derived from the long side tanks as it was said the class resembled the solid metal irons found in most homes which were heated by being placed on top of the oven. Built at Derby works in August 1907, No 2035 remained in service for nearly 29 years being withdrawn from Saltley shed in February 1936 to be scrapped shortly afterwards.
