Looking from the connecting line to the Midland Derby Birmingham line towards the former LNWR Washwodd Heath Signal Box

Looking from the connecting line towards the former LNWR Aston to Stechford line with Washwood Heath Signal Box on the right with the stop signal on the left. The points served two functions, on the hand it acted as a trap as seen with the short section of rail on the left. This protected the crossing from runaway trains as they would derail at the loop siding. The other function was to join up with the up and down lines of the Aston to Stechford route. The left hand turnout enabled traffic to cross over to the up line whilst the right hand turnout enabled traffic to join the down line. 5th May 1961
