This close up of image 'mrwj123' shows more clearly MR 0-6-0
No 2641 on the Hampton to Whitacre one-coach Parliamentary train. By 1844 the
opening of alternative routes to both Birmingham and London saw the Hampton
service rapidly decline down to one train per day from 1902. Whilst uneconomic
the Midland Railway could not avoid its obligations under Parliamentary
legislation until economy measures under the Emergency Act resulting from the
First World War allowed its closure on 1st January 1917.
