Whitacre Station: mrwj1861

An 1886 25 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey Map showing Whitacre Station's three platforms. The passenger accommodation was primarily within the building located on the island platform with the exception of a small timber waiting room located on the up platform. Despite having only a small building on the up platform the entrance to the station was via a short drive off Station Road, the latter being a long stretch of public road between Blythe Road to the south and Coton Road to the north. The island platform's southern 'face' acted as the terminus of the train to Hampton. Also accessed off the driveway was Whitacre Station's goods facilities which were restricted to two sidings with no goods shed or crane. A weighbridge and office can be seen to be marked on the map.
