Looking through the down section of the overbridge and showing the BR replacement signal box. The original 1909 Midland Railway signal box had to be replaced in the 1950s when a freight train derailed and demolished the signal box. As with many other signal boxes on this and other sections of the railway around Birmingham, the Water Orton signal box was closed in September 1969 when the new Power Box at Saltley was opened.
