Built by English Electric at their Vulcan works in October 1960, D300 was renumbered under TOPs as 40100 in February 1974 and was to remain in service until October 1980 when it was withdrawn from HM Healey Mills MPD to be stored before being scrapped by Swindon works in June 1981.
