LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare
Route
Stratford on Avon Station: smjsa322
Looking eastwards towards the station on the left and the
shed on the right on 22nd March 1957. The passenger service has ceased to
operate for five years, although the the station's goods yard will linger on
for a further three more years. A solitary ex-LMS 4F 0-6-0 locomotive is still
in steam as it occupies an otherwise empty shed. In the yard two cattle wagons
are stabled in the landing dock adjacent to the signal box. The photographer,
Tom Williams, is standing on the single line track to Broom whilst the two sets
of tracks to the right include the coaling road used to stable 'Loco' wagons as
can be seen in image 'smjsa166b'.
