LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare

E&WJR and SMJ - Locomotives and Rolling Stock:
smjsa34
Ex-LBSCR 0-6-0 Stroudley 'C1' class, now LMS No 2303,
running wrong road in Stratford on Avon goods yard on 8th April 1924. The
former SMJ locomotives were numbered by the LMS in the 23xx series to
differentiate between the many locomotives bearing the same number across the
many different constituent companies of the LMS. In total 123 independent
railway companies were grouped together (hence the descriptions 'pre-grouping'
and 'post-grouping') into four national companies, the London Midland Scottish
Railway (LMSR), The London North Easter Railway (LNER), the Southern Railway
(SR) and the Great Western Railway (GWR).
