Ex-GCR 2-8-0 Class O4/3 No 63841 enters Catesby Tunnel working hard whilst at the head of a down goods train on 14th May 1949

Ex-GCR 2-8-0 Class O4/3 No 63841 enters Catesby Tunnel working hard whilst at the head of a down goods train on 14th May 1949. Built as GCR No 1302 in February 1919 by the North British Locomotive Company, No 63841 was initially numbered after grouping by the LNER as No 6302 but in 1946 was renumbered as 3841. Allocated its British Railways number post 1948, No 63841 remained in service until March 1964 when it was withdrawn from 41H Staveley shed.
