Building the last Main Line Railway
Flecknoe, Willoughby and Staverton: gcrcs112
View of the plate girder underbridge which carried the Great
Central's Main Line over a public road. Built by T. Oliver & Son as part of
Contract No 4 (Rugby to Woodford), the bridge spanned the Wolfhampcote and
Nethercote road and entailed erecting road side fences to either side of the
bridge as well as laying down new gravel hard standing to the road. In common
with so much of the London Extension, this structure has, unsurprisingly, long
since been demolished.
