View of the brick built five arch bridge carrying Newton Lane over the Great Central's London Extension

View of the brick built five arch bridge carrying Newton Lane over the Great Central's London Extension. The road entered Newton village which was just a short distance to the south of Bridge 439. Sitting on the line of undulating contractor's railway are a line of wagons bearing the name Topham, Jones & Railton: this was the firm responsible for building this section of the Last Main Line (Contract No 3, Aylestone to Rugby).
