An unidentified B1 class 4-6-0 locomotive is seen on a Manchester to London express standing at Rugby Central station during 1948. The note with the photograph states that it is in ex-works condition meaning it was built under the auspices of British Railways which came into being on 1st January 1948. A total of 136 were built by British Railways after nationalisation in 1948 which would indicate that the locomotive would have carried a number between No 61274, the first locomotive of the class built by British Railways or No 61341 the last locomotive in 1948 built by British Railways.
