Rebuilt by Hudswell Clarke & Co. Ltd in 1928, 0-4-0ST No8 is seen here at Harbury Cement Works in circa 1947. This locomotive was originally built by Baguley Cars Ltd in 1919 (Works No621), but was rebuilt prior to coming to Harbury Cement Works in 1928. The locomotive had been owned by the brewing company Thomas Salt & Co. of Burton-on-Trent, which after succumbing to financial difficulties was taken over by Bass in 1927.

Mr EE Baguley was a locomotive engineer, who with the backing of A Clay of Bass Brewery started the Ryknield vehicle firm before moving to the BSA in Small Heath, where he designed their first cars. In 1911, he returned to Burton on Trent and set up Baguley Cars Ltd producing a total of 88 cars before switching to railway locomotive construction. His company which was based in Shobnall Road, Burton predominately produced petrol fuelled locomotives and during the 1920’s was known as Baguley (Engineers) Ltd. In the 1930’s the company was building diesel locomotives under the name EE Baguley Ltd and had moved premise to Uxbridge Street in Burton.
