Looking towards Kings Norton from the gallery of the up goods line home bracket signal on 20th June 1954. Bob Essery notes in his book DJ Norton's pictorial survey of Railways of the West Midlands Part Three that the line running across the picture from the bottom right hand corner towards the left top was a trailing connection that allowed a locomotive and wagons to run from the down goods or down main lines onto the up main line, the goods line or on to the sidings adjacent to the station.
