In the foreground is the wagon hoist to shed 'B' and in the distance the wagon hoist to shed 'A' both used to lower wagons to and from the low level sheds. Each of the hoists were positioned off-set to the traversers which lay below and which ran the full width of the lower sheds. This hoist was one of two provided for shed 'B' and was located at the bottom of the shed where wagons ran onto a sidings with three storage sidings laid at 90° as can be seen in image 'gwrms1205b'. In the foreground is a large capstan which is motorised to pull wagons into and out of the hoist. The two smaller capstans are non-motorised and were used (together with others not visible) in conjunction with the motorised capstan to pull wagons along the length of track in both directions.
