LMS Route: Rugby to Tamworth

An unidentified ex-LNWR 0-6-0 5ft 0in Express Goods engine is running wrong road during the replacement of an overbridge. The widening of the Trent Valley line required the LNWR to rebuild many of the overbridges along the route. In the above view we can see that new abutments have been built behind the original bridge's abutments. In addition, concrete footings have been formed between the existing tracks in order to carry temporary steel columns which in turn are supporting temporary girders. The LNWR have erected a temporary footbridge (full of inquisitive spectators) to cross the line indicating that the works were scheduled to take place over a significant number of days.
