Birmingham New Street Station
LNWR Locomotives: lnwrbns_pg457
LNWR 0-6-0 Special DX Goods No 3515 has just marshalled
express passenger stock at the West end of Platform 2 at New Street station.
The heavy timber framing to the left of the locomotive and the ironwork partly
seen above indicates that the photograph was taken during the 1906-7 period
when the roof was strengthened. Built in January 1867 as LNWR DX 0-6-0 No 461
it was later rebuilt as Special DX Goods engine in July 1897 and then
renumbered as No 3515 on the duplicate list in November 1900 to be scrapped in
November 1907 at Crewe works. My thanks to Harry Jack and Ted Talbot for the
latter information.
