Coventry Station - BR Locomotives: lnwrcov253

Ex-SR 4-6-2 Rebuilt Battle of Britain class No 34087 '145 Squadron' is seen standing at Coventry station's new platform three at the head of a Cathedral special. Built post-nationalisation No 34087 never received the continental style of numbering adopted by Bullied, the last was Battle of Britain Class number 21C170 Manston in November 1947. Built at Brighton works in December 1948 No 34087 it was rebuilt in December 1960 from its 'air-smoothed' outline to that seen above and lasted in service until July 1967 when it was withdrawn from Eastleigh shed to be scrapped in September 1968 by J Cashmore of Newport.
