An 1887 Ordnance Survey Map showing the junction of the Nuneaton to Coventry line with the siding leading to Widdrington Mill

An 1887 Ordnance Survey Map showing the junction of the Nuneaton to Coventry line with the siding leading to Widdrington Mill. In Peter Lee's book 'Nuneaton, Coventry & Leamington Railway' he writes, 'when the Coventry to Nuneaton line opened, a station was erected next to Radford overbridge'. Radford Road over bridge is on the left above 'Trinity Terrace'. Peter comments that the station either never opened or if it did it closed very quickly as OS maps of the 1880s only show a building in place but not an open station. The Coventry & Nuneaton track plan clearly shows the station marked as Radford station, complete with platforms. The station house apparently lasted well in to the 1960s before being demolished and the site cleared. To see a copy of the trackplan see image 'lnwrdh3391'
