LMS Route: Grand Junction Railway

Hamstead and Great Barr: lnwrgb60

LNWR 0-6-0 No 473 a 'Cauliflower' class locomotive is seen standing at the station on a Winters day. The station was approximately twenty years old when this photograph was taken and still looks immaculate. The platform surface was made up of compacted stone to form the hard standing which was edged with a single row of paving stones behind the kerb which topped the brick fascia of the platform. The lack of leaves on the trees but flowers in the bed behind the platform would indicate that its probably late Autumn. This photograph appears to have been taken on the same day as image 'lnwrgb61' as the bush by the fencing on the embankment can be seen in both photographs.
