LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

Looking back from the turntable towards the now disused
passenger station now being used by the Chad Valley Company. The turntable was
locked from the signal cabin and the driver communicated with the signalman by
using a whistle code; one crow to withdraw the locking bolt; two codes for
inserting the locking block. The turntable was lifted in 1947 and according to
Steven Robertson in his article The Harborne Branch in LMS Journal No 3
was replaced by a loading dock for sand traffic.
