LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

Harborne Station: lnwrh3608colour

xxx

A colourisation by Mark Judd of ex-Midland Railway 2F 0-6-0 No 58185 is seen shunting an ex-LMS Five Plank wagon at Harborne station circa 1957. The light axle loading required on the Harborne Branch made this class of locomotive indispensible for the majority of the branch's working life. This particular locomotive had been transferred to Monument Lane from Aston Shed during the week ending 26th January 1952 and as the last of the class to be based at Monument Lane, transferred to Bescot shed during the week ending December 1961. The 2F was officially designated as being a member of the MR's 1422 class and as such was built by Neilson & Company circa 1876 and remained in service until it was withdrawn from 21B Bescot shed during July 1962.
