Ex-LNWR 0-8-2T 6F No 7878 is seen paused between movements shunting in the up marshalling yard opposite platform seven. Built as LNWR No 1653 at Crewe works to a Bowen-Cooke design in January 1912 No 7878 remained in service until June 1947 when it was withdrawn from Edge Hill shed in Liverpool to be scrapped shortly afterwards at Crewe works.
