Ex-LMS 7P 4-6-0 Rebuilt Royal Scot class No 46146 'The Rifle
Brigade' is seen at the head of an up express service to Euston standing at
platform four circa 1960. The once busy marshalling yards can be seen to the
right with a one plank wagon being shunted over the hump. Built as No 6146 by
the North British Locomotive Company in November 1927 to a Fowler design,
complete with parallel boiler which had one of the largest smokeboxes seen on a
British engine, No 46146 was later given a tapered boiler by Stanier and
remained in service until November 1962 when it was with drawn from Willesden
shed in London to be scrapped during March 1963 by Crewe works.
