Another view of Rugby's famous signal gantry nicknamed the 'Rugby bedstead' with the GC bridge in the background. The LNWR stated it was the largest in the United Kingdom but this was refuted by the NER who believed their signal gantry at York was the largest. The small hut beneath the gantry is a fogman's hut used by 'fogmen' during poor visibility when they placed a number of detonators on the line to signal to engine drivers whether they could pass the signal safely or not.
