View of the scissors crossing and down platform taken from Rugby No 3 signal cabin looking towards Stafford in March 1961. The scissors crossover allowed two trains to arrive and depart and be held at the down platform completely independent of each other. This resulted in Rugby having one of the longest platforms in the UK. The planking on the scaffolding is protecting passengers whilst the glass roof is being restored ahead of electrification. The through line that once ran parallel to the platform line has been lifted at this point but part of the track can still be seen in the distance to the right of the train.
