Looking towards the main entrance of the station with the bridge carrying the railway over Murray Road just beyond, 13th April 1954. The sign on the canopy reading 'Rugby Midland' is in British Railways' new corporate livery for the Midland Region (introduced circa 1953-4), being 'white' lettering on a maroon background. The description 'Midland' was introduced by British Railways in order to differentiate between the former Great Central Rugby station and the former LNWR station.
