The set of carriages were one of the LNWR's four-coach Birmingham Division High Roof Non-Corridor sets. The platform buildings are notable insofar as they are very narrow with canopies that are wider than the accommodation itself. Extensive facilities were not required on the platforms as these were available in the main station building located above the running lines. Note the ornamental gas lampposts and the wicker basket porters barrow. The van at the rear of the train appears to be a horsebox. Passenger services were the main form of transporting horses by rail and their use was not just limited to horses used to pull road carriages. In rural areas, such as that found along the route of the Stratford Midland Junction Railway, the local hunt would frequently be moved by rail from one part of the county to another.
