LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

Ex-Midland Railway 2F 0-6-0 No 58181 is seen arriving at
Stechford on the up goods line with a local stopping freight service. The goods
shed seen behind the goods train was operated by Cartwright & Company,
timber merchants based in Stechford Goods Yard. Built by Neilson, Reid &
Company in November 1876 as MR No 1241, a member of their 1142 class, No 58181
was later renumbered by the MR as No 3009 and then by the LMS as No 23009 in
their duplicate list before receiving its British Railways number which it
retained until July 1961 when it was withdrawn from 12E Barrow in Furness shed
to be scrapped by Derby works.
