LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Alcester Station: mra134
British Railways built Ivatt 4MT Mogul No 43036, running
tender first, is seen arriving at Alcester on a local passenger train to
Birmingham. Bob Essery in his book on the line writes, 'During the final years
of the branch the Ivatt Moguls, introduced just before nationalisation, were in
regular use on the line'. Built in June 1948 at Horwich works, No 43036 only
lasted eighteen years in service before being withdrawn in May 1966 from
Workington shed to be scrapped in October 1966 by the Motherwell Machinery
& Scrap Company at Inshaw Works.
