View of the LNWR signal box which controlled the movements at Exchange Sidings seen on 23rd December 1965. The sidings were built in 1878 and were located between St Andrews Junction and Grand Junction (previously described as Gloucester Junction) on the embankment of the New Street and Coventry line. An illustration of the type of freight services originating at the Exchange Sidings was 1:35pm Class 'E' for Gloucester and the 1:50pm Class 'H' service for Westerleigh. An example of incoming trains included the 9:55pm Class 'H' service from Gloucester Barnwood whose wagons might be marshalled in to services for destinations across the West Midlands.
