Hazelwell signal box located beneath Cartland Road bridge on the down side of the Camp Hill to Kings Norton route seen on 25th October 1964. A Midland Railway design, the signal box's height and location was determined by the bridge overhead and the two refuge sidings. Beneath the cabin where the signalman or 'bobby' operated the levers, is the machine room where vertical movement was converted to horizontal so that the rods seen above could move rails and wires move signal arms.
