LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton

View of Abbey Junction Signal Box with the line to Leicester in the foreground and the line to the Trent Valley Line behind. The photograph was taken on 9th August 1968 and the photographer would have been standing next to one of the good sheds. This was the second signal box the first having been opened some time prior to August 1877. It was re-framed and overhauled in March 1894 probably reflecting track changes etc. The box seen above was opened by the LMS on 1st November 1925. It was closed and destroyed by fire some time during the 1980s.
